Atelier Note
A finely striped white dial, like a shirt with an open collar — forty years have passed, and the weave has not shifted.
A two-hand cushion Longines, with a finely striped dial
This Longines watch is a dress watch from the 1980s, from the generation in which the Saint-Imier house transposed its classic design onto quartz calibres. The cushion case — a square with curved sides and softened corners — is gold-plated over a steel back, and measures only 5.35mm thick: a slim bezel, short lugs, a discreet fluted crown.
The white dial is worked with a striped texture: fine vertical lines, so tightly spaced that they reveal themselves only in raking light, give the surface the grain of a fabric. The applied gold baton hour markers mark the hours, beneath the Longines signature and its winged hourglass, with the word Quartz in English at the bottom.
Two gold baton hands, slim and straight, and nothing else: no seconds hand, no date. It is the choice of the Longines calibre 150, a two-hand quartz movement designed for slim watches — the dial gains a calmness that watches with central seconds do not have.
The movement has been checked and fitted with a new battery. The watch is fitted on a burgundy leather strap with Buckle steel pin buckle, both later additions.
Three points to note
01
Finely striped white dial — a vertical texture that reveals itself only in raking light, with applied gold markers.
02
Two hands, with no seconds or date — the Longines calibre 150, reserved for slim dress watches.
03
5.35mm gold-plated cushion — the softened corners of the 1980s, slipping under a cuff without a thought.
Why choose a vintage Longines?
This pre-owned Longines watch occupies a precise place among vintage men's and women's watches: its 31mm cushion case with 36mm of Lug-to-lug and 5.35mm thickness makes it a vintage dress watch that can be worn equally by both, with the design of a house that defined the codes of the classic watch long before quartz.
Like all our vintage quartz watches, this one has been opened and checked by our partner watchmakers: inspection of the movement, examination of the dial, hands and case. Each vintage Longines watch that we offer comes with an Atelier Victor invoice serving as a certificate, a one-year warranty, and lifetime-guaranteed authenticity.

Frequently asked questions
Why does this watch have only two hands?
Because its Longines caliber 150 is a two-hand quartz movement, designed for slim dress watches. Without a seconds hand or date, the dial remains calm and the watch gains finesse — a design choice that Longines reserved for its most formal models. The movement works exactly like a three-hand quartz, with a battery to be changed every two to three years.
What is a brushed dial?
It is a dial whose surface is worked with very fine vertical lines, regular like the stripes of a fabric. Straight on, it appears plain; in raking light, the pattern emerges and gives the white a depth that a smooth dial does not have. On this watch, the texture is intact and plays with the applied gold hour markers that run through it.
What does the winged hourglass logo represent?
It is the emblem of Longines, registered in 1889 and regarded as the oldest watchmaking logo still in use without substantial modification. The house was founded in 1832 in Saint-Imier, in the Swiss Jura, and first became known for its sports timing instruments before developing a dressier catalogue.
How should a gold-plated case be cared for?
Plating is a layer of gold applied over a base metal, which becomes thinner over time in the areas most exposed to friction. A soft, dry cloth is sufficient for routine care; avoid abrasive products, perfumes, and household cleaners, which accelerate wear. On this watch, the plating is even, with fine signs of use on the bezel.
Is this piece suitable for a slender or larger wrist?
At 31mm wide, 36mm Lug-to-lug and 5.35mm thick, it suits wrists of approximately 15 to 18cm — a guideline, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. Its cushion case with softened corners follows the wrist, and its slimness lets it slip under a cuff. The Lug width measures 17mm, making it easy to change the strap.
