A matte black dial, twelve points of light gone ivory over time, and a toothed bezel framing the whole like the porthole from which the brand takes its name. Thirty-six millimetres of steel on rubber.
Hublot MDM Professional: steel and rubber, in 36mm
This Hublot watch belongs to the MDM Professional line and dates from the 1990s. Its round steel case measures 36mm in diameter and 9.4mm thick, and the Swiss automatic movement displays the time, seconds and date. It was serviced by Hublot at the end of 2023, with the service document to support this.
The bezel is the house motif: a wide steel ring whose side is worked with fine toothing, the very feature that evokes the ship's porthole from which the name Hublot comes. It bears a sixty-minute scale, numbered every five minutes and dotted for the intervals, with a reference triangle at 12 o'clock. The case extends into two screwed steel plates that hold the bracelet with no visible lugs, and bring the watch to 44.6mm from top to bottom.
The matte black dial lets nothing shine: twelve round luminous markers, whose material has taken on an ivory tone over the decades, a date window framed at three o'clock, and as its only markings the logo then HUBLOT below 12 o'clock, MDM, PROFESSIONAL and the depth rating 300m above six o'clock, and finally the line AUTOMATIC SWISS MADE at the bottom of the dial.
The hands for the hours and minutes are batons filled with luminous material, complemented by a thin dark centre seconds hand. The piece comes on a Hublot rubber strap and a Hublot folding clasp Buckle, both newly replaced, adjustable up to a 21cm wrist circumference.

Condition and guarantee
- Overall condition: Good state of preservation. The matte black dial is clean, its markings perfectly legible, and the material of the markers has taken on an ivory tone that contrasts with the black background. Crystal sapphire crystal in good condition (9/10). The steel case shows fine surface scratches from wear, more visible on the toothed edge of the bezel and on the bracelet plates. The strap and Buckle are new. The whole is visible in our photographs.

Frequently asked questions
What does the MDM marking on the dial mean?
MDM stands for MDM Genève, the company Carlo Crocco founded in 1980 and under which the watch Hublot was produced for more than twenty years. The initials therefore appear on the dials of that period, alongside the model name, and no longer appear on current Hublot. It is the simplest marker of the house's first period.
Why a Hublot in steel on a rubber strap?
Because that is the founding principle of the brand. In 1980, pairing a precious metal or steel case with a rubber strap was not done in Swiss watchmaking, and that is precisely what Carlo Crocco sought to establish. The name Hublot also comes from the design of the case, whose toothed bezel evokes a boat porthole.
Can this watch be worn in water?
We do not guarantee it, and we say this for all our older pieces: the gaskets of a thirty-year-old watch have aged, and water resistance can only be certified after a pressure test that we do not carry out. The 300m printed on the dial describes the original design, not the current condition. For use in water, have the piece tested by a watchmaker beforehand.
Is the rubber strap easy to replace?
It unscrews, but it cannot be bought just anywhere: the Lug width of 17mm and the screwed plate attachment are specific to the model, and a universal strap will not fit it. The one delivered with the piece is a new Hublot rubber strap, with its Buckle folding clasp Hublot, which is the hardest configuration to bring together on this model.
What is the value of a service carried out by the manufacture?
It brings two things that an independent atelier brings with more difficulty: access to the brand's parts, and a named document recording the intervention. Here the operation was carried out by Hublot at the end of 2023, and the service document accompanies the watch. For a future buyer or for resale, it is a line of history that rarely exists for a piece from this period.

Each watch is examined by our partner watchmakers before being offered for sale: verification of authenticity, checking the conformity of the components, identification of any modification or replacement of original parts.

Delivery is free on all our pieces internationally. Dispatch within 48 to 72 business hours by DHL Express, Emirates Post, EMS or an equivalent carrier depending on the destination, delivery within 2 to 14 business days. Each shipment is insured and delivered against signature.
