This vintage Corum watch comes from a house still young when it was made: Corum was born in 1955 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, founded by Gaston Ries and his nephew René Bannwart, with a key as its emblem. Within just a few years, it made a name for itself with watches unlike any others: the Admiral's Cup in 1960, the Coin Watch in 1964, cut from a genuine twenty-dollar coin, later the Rolls-Royce of 1976 and the Golden Bridge of 1980. Alongside these famous pieces, Corum created in the 1970s gold dress watches like this one: an 18K yellow gold tank, brushed, 22mm wide and 7mm thick, with a linen-textured dial, powered by a calibre 2512 with hand-wound movement. A mechanical watch with two hands, in solid gold.
Its original golden dial is woven: a linen texture, those fine crossings that make the light shimmer like fabric, beneath three black baton hour markers at 3, 6 and 9 and the house key at 12 o'clock. Two original golden dauphine hands, no seconds hand. Corum beneath the key, Swiss Made at the bottom.
The 18K yellow gold tank case, 22mm wide for 30mm of Lug-to-lug and 7mm thick, is brushed on its face, with a wide bezel framing the dial, lugs beneath the case middle, an original crown and an original acrylic Crystal. The calibre 2512, mechanical with hand-wound movement, has been checked by our partner watchmakers and is guaranteed for one year. The watch is fitted on a black leather strap with a steel Buckle, both later additions.

Who is Corum?
A house founded in 1955 in La Chaux-de-Fonds by Gaston Ries and his nephew René Bannwart, under the emblem of a key. What is a linen-textured dial?
A dial whose surface is engraved with fine crossed lines, like the weave of a linen fabric: the light catches on it irregularly and the golden tone appears woven. A finish prized on dress watches of the 1960s and 1970s, found at several great houses.
Is the case made of solid gold?
Yes, in 18-carat yellow gold, brushed on its face. 18K gold contains 75% pure gold; softer than steel, it retains the fine marks of wear, which are part of the life of a gold watch.
Has the movement been checked?
Yes. Our partner watchmakers have checked the caliber 2512, the dial, the hands and the case; it is guaranteed for one year. A hand-wound watch is wound every day, and a vintage watch is not guaranteed water-resistant.
Is this piece suitable for a slim or larger wrist?
At 22mm wide, 30mm Lug-to-lug and 7mm thick, it suits wrists from approximately 14 to 18cm — a guide, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. Its slim tank style wears like a jewel, under a cuff. The Lug width measures 18mm, which makes it easy to change the strap.
