A stone-set midnight blue rectangle, on a braided bracelet
The case of this Charles Vögele watch is a vertical rectangle measuring 25.5mm wide by 28mm high and only 6.8mm thick. Its outer edge is worked with fine diagonal fluting, tight and regular, framing the dial with continuous relief — a braided rope effect echoed more broadly on the bracelet. It is platinum-plated, with a steel caseback, and its original cabochon crown in blue sits flush on the right side.
The midnight blue dial is matte, with no minute track or numerals: legibility relies entirely on twelve stone-set markers, each held by four claws, which catch the light in sharp points against the dark background. The stones are zircons, synthetic stones. Beneath the signature, the word QUARTZ; at the center, slender steel hands and a fine central seconds hand, whose counterweight forms a star.
The bracelet is integrated and braided: a supple chevron-link construction, also platinum-plated, which flows from the case with no visible lugs and wraps around the wrist like a ribbon. It adjusts up to a 19cm wrist size and it is original, including its Buckle.
The movement is a quartz, caliber Seiko VX21. It has been checked by our partner watchmakers and is guaranteed for one year.

- Overall condition: Excellent state of preservation. The original midnight blue dial is crisp and deep, with all twelve set indices complete and secure in their claws. The platinum plating on the case and bracelet is even, with fine signs of wear on the edges of the case, visible in our photographs. The braided mesh has retained its suppleness. What is platinum plating?
A layer of platinum deposited on a base metal, here on both the case and the bracelet. Platinum is a white-grey metal that does not oxidize and does not yellow over time, unlike gold plating whose tone evolves. This is what gives this watch its cool sheen, close to white gold, and explains why the braided mesh has retained its color after thirty years.
Are the hour markers diamonds?
No, they are zircons — zirconium oxide, a synthetic stone. We state this clearly rather than leaving room for doubt: a synthetic stone should be identified as such. Brilliant-cut and set with four prongs as here, it gives off a fire very close to that of a diamond on a dark dial, for a fraction of the price.
How do you adjust an integrated woven bracelet?
By removing links, by a watchmaker, up to a maximum wrist size of 19cm on this example. An integrated bracelet cannot be replaced with an off-the-shelf leather strap: it extends from the case with no visible lugs, and its 22mm attachment does not correspond to any standard size. That is also what gives value to an example complete with its original bracelet.
Should one be wary of an old quartz movement?
No, on one condition: remove the battery if the watch is to remain unused for a long time, as a depleted battery can leak and damage the movement. A quartz movement from this period simply requires regular battery changes, without the periodic servicing that a mechanical movement calls for. This one has been checked by our watchmakers and is guaranteed for one year.
Is this piece suitable for a slim or larger wrist?
With a width of 25.5mm, a height of 28mm, and a thickness of 6.8mm, it is primarily suited to slim to medium wrists, up to 19cm in wrist circumference — a guideline, never a rule: everyone wears what they like. Its woven bracelet falls straight from the case and follows the wrist without overhang, which makes it appear even more discreet than its measurements suggest.
