Rolex Datejust 18k yellow gold: the chronometer watch with black dial and fluted bezel

This Rolex watch is an Oyster Perpetual Datejust, reference 6827, in solid 18k yellow gold, in its midsize 31mm format. Dated 1979, it belongs to one of the most emblematic lineages in watchmaking: the Datejust, born in 1945, the first automatic wristwatch to display the date in a window. Unisex, it is worn equally well by a man or a woman. Its gold Oyster case, with screw-down crown and case back, is framed by the famous Rolex fluted bezel. It measures 31mm (33.4mm with the crown) and 36.5mm lug to lug.

The deep black dial exudes understated, timeless elegance. Applied gilded baton hour markers, topped with a luminous dot, punctuate the perimeter beneath the Rolex crown, the OYSTER PERPETUAL DATEJUST signatures and the SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED mention. The "T Swiss Made T" mention at the bottom of the dial attests to the use of tritium, a hallmark of Rolex watches from this era. The date window at 3 o'clock is topped by the characteristic Cyclops magnifier. The gilded hands with luminous inserts complete the ensemble.

Inside beats the Rolex calibre 2030, a 28-jewel automatic in-house movement, a COSC-certified chronometer. It is one of the first Rolex date movements with quickset date, offering around 42 hours of power reserve and renowned for its robustness. The movement of this example has been serviced by our watchmaker.

On the wrist, the piece quietly asserts the status of the Datejust: that of a universal dress watch, worn across generations for every occasion. The solid yellow gold, black dial and fluted bezel compose a watch of commanding presence, here highlighted by a black crocodile-style leather strap, secured by an original 18k gold Rolex buckle. The 17mm 表耳宽度 leaves the choice of replacement straps open.
